Finally, after six years, the Paris Motor Show is back and there is plenty of new metal to get the hearts of any motoring enthusiast racing.
There’s no surprise that the home car manufacturers are showing off the most with world debuts, facelifts and concepts. Plus, a host of newly anticipated start-up brands such as Leapmotor are showcasing a selection of new budget-friendly models.
Here is a list of cars that have made the biggest impact at this year's show.
Renault 4
Once seen as a car for the people in the mid-20th century, the legendary Renault 4 is making a comeback, and like its smaller sibling – the new 5 - it will come with electric power only.
But, unlike the 5, the R4 will be a small crossover to compete with cars such as the Peugeot E-2008 and Vauxhall Mokka Electric.
Subtle design elements from the original car include the flat and low-positioned tailgate as well as the moulded lines that run the width of the doors giving this new model a real retro vibe.
Inside, it uses the same interior layout as the new 5 – featuring a 10-inch infotainment screen with Google built-in.
Under the bonnet, there will be two battery packs. There’s a 40kWh unit followed by a larger 52kWh setup – plus this version comes with a claimed 249 miles between charge ups. According to Renault, the smaller battery pack can do a claimed 186 miles.
Renault Twingo
Another nameplate that is making a comeback and will be competing in the same class as it was before is the Renault Twingo.
Renault’s cheeky little city car hasn’t been sold on our shores since 2019, but the firm is reintroducing the model into the electric era.
With the Dacia Spring taking the spotlight when it comes to affordable EVs, Renault is taking its next Twingo very seriously and says that this funky little car will cost less than £17,000 – although it’s unconfirmed whether the UK will be importing it over. But, if the production car looks as good as this concept, we should certainly be seeing an exception.
Leapmotor B10
A relatively new and unheard-of brand is the Chinese, Stellantis–partnered firm Leapmotor.
Paris has seen Leapmotor take the covers off its new B10 SUV, which is said to cost under £30,000 when it comes to Britain next year to rival cars like the Mini Aceman and Jeep Avenger. The car sits on a new platform and features a host of driver safety equipment and a customisable digital cockpit.
The B10 is one of many new models to come from the company that are also bringing to the UK the budget-friendly T03 city car and the C10 electric SUV. In other markets, there will be a flagship C16 electric SUV as well, but it’s unconfirmed whether that model will make it over to us.
Citroen Ami
Seen as a quadricycle, the Citroen Ami is perfect for pottering around the urban streets. Plus, with an 8bhp electric motor and 5.5kWh battery pack that’s good for a top speed of 28mph, it certainly won’t get you in any trouble – and it remains the same as in the old version.
Since its first launch in 2020, Citroen has given its cute and quirky little EV a new nose, with redesigned front and rear bumpers, plus a fresh pair of headlights. There are new wheel trim designs and an array of personalisation options as well.
Citroen C5 Aircross Concept
The latest Citroen concept car is what the next C5 Aircross will look like and it’s even called the C5 Aircross Concept. The next generation car will sit on Stellantis’ STLA Medium architecture – just like the Peugeot E-3008 and E-5008.
Furthermore, the STLA platform enables a multiple powertrain setup with hybrid and electric versions compatible to sit on the architecture.
If the new C5 Aircross follows in the footsteps of its Peugeot siblings, there will be a choice of two battery packs, including a 73kWh and Long range 98kWh that could offer as much as 435 miles between charges.
The concept shows similarities to the C3 Aircross and hints of the Oli Concept that was revealed in 2022.
Alpine A110 R Ultime
Possibly one of the most exclusive and expensive cars at this year’s show is Alpine’s A110 R Ultime. With an eye-watering price tag of £222,000 and limited to just 110 units worldwide, this is by far the most hardcore and collectable Alpine A110 that has ever been produced.
It’s unconfirmed how many allocations are being made to the UK, but the A110 R Ultime comes with a boost in power up from the standard car’s 296bhp to 345bhp and its 0-60mph time now takes just 3.6 seconds. Also, Alpine claims that the Ultime has up to 160kg more downforce, plus it has a new gearbox, exhaust, adjustable dampers and an uprated braking system for better track use.
